Phone as a Key has to answer the question “how do I maintain access and authorization to my vehicle?” Access and Authorization is a culmination of technologies (hardware & software) and policies that help determine who and how they have access to the vehicle through features like Phone as a Key and Backup Start Passcodes.

This concept originally started in 2017 and launched in market on the 2020 Lincoln Aviator. Since the launch of the feature it has since been introduced to multiple vehicles lines including the Mustang Mach-E.
